Hello and welcome to our website thatlaplandlife.com. We are Steve and Bex and we have moved from the UK to live here in Finnish Lapland.
We are so happy to be able to share this place with everybody and look forward to hearing your questions and experiences as we all learn together on this journey.

We are frequently asked why did we move to Lapland?
The short answer is that we wanted to live differently, we were looking for an adventure. Our lives had become a repetitive cycle of work, eat, sleep, repeat. There weren’t enough hours in the day to do everything that we wanted or needed to do and still have time to spend doing the things that we enjoyed.
We decided several years ago that things needed to change, and if they were going to change then we needed to be the people to make the changes. We had been exploring different ways of living, different countries to live in, different income opportunities in the countries we investigated.
Lapland was selected as our future home during a chance holiday in February 2020, just before the full force of the pandemic hit and international travel pretty much stopped. Shortly after arriving at Kuusamo airport and setting off on the transfer coach to Ruka ski resort, we fell in love with this place. The scenery, the snow, the peaceful countryside, the quiet roads, the clean air, the list goes on.
So what’s happening now? How will we survive here?
We have converted an American school bus in to an AirBnB glamping unit that is positioned on our land. We rent this out to travellers and anybody looking for a break from the norm. If you would like to see the bus or check availability then head over to our listing at Midnight Sun Skoolie.
Our location offers peace and quiet all year round, clean air and access to some of the best hiking trails in Finland. Of course you could just choose to relax next to the fire pit if that’s your thing.
